SILVER MOON Yunnan White Tea

$28.00

A superb artisanal tea with stone fruit and jasmine notes and a superior finish

Description

Our SILVER MOON Yunnan White Tea is a small-batch tea from a family-run garden. The producers, based in Pu’er, are intimately involved in this tea’s journey from farm to cup.

This white tea is unlike any other. It is processed much like a Pu’er tea, but the big difference is that it consists of the silvery, downy buds of early spring, instead of the large green leaves that become Pu’er tea.

This beautiful Yunnan white tea is characterized by sweet and subtle apricot aromas, leading to a jasmine aftertaste and a sumptuous velvety finish.

This is a tea of outstanding quality, combining the delicacy of white tea with the flavour and mouth feel of the best teas from the Pu’er region.

Like all teas, it contains catechins and polyphenols (anti-oxidants) that help strengthen your immune system.

Brewing & Enjoying SILVER MOON Yunnan White Tea

Yunnan Silver Moon White Tea can be steeped up to 3 times using the Chinese gongfu (flash-pour) method (not including the rinse).

  • Place 8 to 10 grams in a gaiwan or teapot of your choice
  • Before adding water, gently shake the gaiwan/pot (with your hands over the lid!) to start releasing the aroma
  • Rinse the leaves in filtered water
  • Discard the water immediately and reserve the wet leaves
  • Steep at around 85 degrees Celsius for 5 seconds
  • Lengthen the next steeping to 10 seconds
  • Lengthen the third steeping to about 15 seconds

Many people like to experiment with steeping times and quantities to find their preferred strength, but the guidelines above work really well.

A great first pu'er cake

This was the first raw pu'er cake I ever purchased and was a great introduction to what a young raw pu'er is like. By flash steeping, this can last for over a dozen steeps. It has that classic bitterness that the Lincang region is known for, which I find quite enjoyable. After the first few flash-steeps, you'll begin to really notice the sweetness kicking in and a menthol sensation building in the throat. It's fun experiencing the tea changing as the session progresses. There are better young raw pu'er cakes out there but this one is solid, and the unusually small size keeps the price down enough to make it easier to try.

Thanks for the feedback, Cha Crusade! Great to know you're getting so many steeps out of The Mini.

Oolong love you long time

This tea is perfect for vegans or those that crave a creamy warm texture to their teas. It's a perfect middle path for me because I generally don't enjoy green teas. It's like a perfect marriage between a green tea and a black tea. The flavours seem to intensify on a second or third infusion of the tea leaves.

We're very glad you enjoy the Jinxuan oolong, Misbah.

MATCHA (Unkaku: ‘Crane in the Clouds’)

Tried this today at the Melbourne (first) Tea Festival and it was amazing! Smooth, sweet and natural with all its goodness. It was just mesmerizing watching the green tea master perform the traditional Japanese tea ceremony. Returned multiple times for more! Definitely how green tea should be known to the general public. Thank you for the awesome experience!

Thank you for the feedback! We're looking forward to sharing this amazing tea again in the near future.
