This is the BANZHANG OLD TREE 100: a high-quality aged raw Pu’er. It’s from the Pu’er Source Tea Factory in Menghai, Xishuangbanna, in the deep south of Yunnan province. This Banzhang treat will provide many an afternoon of happy Pu’er drinking no matter where you are.
The Banzhang area produces some very fine Pu’er, and many Pu’er fans claim Banzhang produces the best Pu’er of all.
This tea has a warm toffee aroma. As an aged tea, there is no bitterness to it if you flash-pour gongfu style, which is the way to go. The tea is very mellow, has a subtle sweetness to it, and can sustain many infusions.
Brewing & Enjoying BANZHANG OLD TREE 100 Raw Pu’er
First, place about 5 grams at a time in a clay teapot.
How we brew it: at around 95 degrees Celsius with filtered water. Discard the first wash and then reserve the wet leaves. Use these for second infusion onwards.
Finally, experiment a bit with quantities and infusion times, and enjoy! The same leaves last for 10 infusions or more.
